Quiet blog

Hey guys...sorry for the quiet blog recently.  Lots of things have been happening but hopefully for the best.  Anyway, soon there will be more activity and some more videos on the blog.  It's just well....life.

But I do want to share something with you...its a comment on the Life in Israel blog...that was just very profound!  And has had me thinking greatly since I read it:

To further illustrate this, I'll share with you an incident from one of Rav Aviner's influences, Rav Mordechai Eliyahu shlita. I had gone to him (this is in the 80s, before he was Rishon L'tzion) with a question in halachah. He answered, but I questioned something about the answer. This went back and forth for a few minutes. Finally the rav says to me something to effect of 'You asked me what I think, and I am telling you. You don't have to accept it. When you get before the heavenly court, they will hold you responsible for what you do. They won't allow you to excuse yourself by saying 'I only did what the rav told me to.' If you really have reason to think this isn't correct or applicable, you have to do what you understand.'

Remember, he was saying this to a 20 something year old guy who (then and now!) doesn't reach his shoe laces in learning! The notion of responsibility never leaves Torah.

RIP Cranky

As all of you probably know I read quite a few blogs - it sure beats TV and the MSM...over time you develop regular reading cycles and acquaintances with those on the other computer.

One of the blogs I read was Cranky's Balance Sheet and the last post he mentioned was that he was going to the hospital and not much of an update after that.  The folks over at innocent bystanders and the hostages (two other great blogs) have been concerned over his silence and absence.  Now, with good reason.  They found out that he passed away about a week ago.   I did not know him will....but always found his comments bitingly fun to read.  And, the hostages did a very lovingly tribute to a lost friend.  A friend who is no longer in pain and is probably giving G-d a hard time with his acerbic wit!

In a way one could compare this to our friendships with Lital (and Adi - to a lesser degree).  When we thought Dan had been ill (when he disappeared from the chatroom) we all tried to find a way to track him down.  It was that experience that took our friendships to just acquaintances on the net to friendship.

When you lose someone you are close to in the net - the pain is the same.  I hope that all of Cranky's family and friends remember the joy that cranky was and when ordering a beer leave a little there for him.

Defiance - the movie

With Daniel Craig and Leiv Schreiber - was EXCELLENT!  Three good movies in a row...that's a pretty good streak!!  If you can - go and see it.

When I saw the preview I thought it was about the Warsaw uprising but it wasnt it was about the Jewish Partisans the Bielski brothers....and the community they saved of about 1200 Jews during WWII!

The time in the movie flew very quickly......I am absolutely going to buy this on DVD.

Watch this!!!!

This post is taken from Israel Matzav - I tried to embed the video and it wouldnt work.  Hopefully this works!

He gets FULL CREDIT.  Click here.

This video is a simulation made by a couple of people in Sderot. I think I recognized just about every part of Tel Aviv shown in this picture. I don't want to spoil the surprise for you, so let's go to the videotape and then I'll tell you where the rocket hit.

The rocket hit the Square Tower in the Azrieli Center in Tel Aviv. The center is located right along the Ayalon Expressway (the highway you saw when the video first shifted to Tel Aviv) and is the centerpiece of Tel Aviv's new business district. Yes, this could happen.

Would this be enough to wake up the NotInMyBackYard crowd? Yes, but only once it - God forbid - happens.

What if a rocket from Gaza hits Tel Aviv!

Ceasefire

Well folks, its been a couple of days since the "ceasefire" or more appropriately Israel ceases and Hamas fires!

I sincerely doubt the girls are back in college.  The rockets are still landing and while the IDF has evaccuated part of Gaza they are still there.  This cessation of hostilities is just going to end up killing more Jews!!!  Sorry I don't care much for the Palestinians....I just don't (I wont hide it).  They elected Hamas and they deserve the consequences for electing a terrorist organization as their governing represenatives.

Israel would save more lives if it sliced Gaza like a Hammar (credit to Paul Anka).  Instead Israel will linger in Gaza like we lingered in Vietnam - no real victory and only a loss of honor and morale.

Just watch the blogs I mentioned before and they still blog about how many rockets and mortars are launched into Israel.

AZ in the SUPERBOWL

Now, who in the hell predicted this outcome in the beginning of the year??????

They certainly are not my team....LOL...but damn they did a really good game...they came close to giving it to Philly in the 3rd Quarter but a very good rebound in the 4th!   Wow....just wow...

I stopped playing the Ace of spades football pool when I was in Israel in September....and just never started back up...then the Cowboys self-destructed.....but how interesting....that the team here less than 15 min from me.....is now in route to the Superbowl!  That's pretty cool!!!

Well it is on now.  The Hanakukah war is over.  Once again Israel has snatched defeat from the Jaws of victory.

Hamas still around enough to fire rockets
Shalit still not freed

Some science humor - SHOCKING - Hot women are prone to cheat?

Copied entirely from Ace - because even the song is KEWL!

Science: Hot Women More Likely to Feel They Can Do Better, Cheat on Their Partners

Really?

I had no idea.

Women with high levels of a key sex hormone are judged more attractive by themselves and others, and may be more inclined to cheat on their partners, according to a study published Wednesday.

University of Texas psychologists Kristina Durante and Norman Li found that women with high concentrations of the hormone oestradiol were likelier to flirt, kiss and have a serious affair outside an established relationship.

In a study published in the British journal Biology Letters, the duo described the behaviour as "opportunistic serial monogamy" and not related to one-night stands.

Instead, they suggested, such women were more probably being prompted to trade up in their relationships -- to find a better partner.

...

High concentrations of oestradiol are associated with big breasts, facial attractiveness and low waist-to-hip ratio, with the result that men solicit such women.

The article goes on to explain the science of a hot woman having a long-term relationship with a wealthy man to make sure her material needs are met, but seeking flings with hotter guys to make sure her sexual needs are met.

Truly an eye-opener.
