BACK HOME

Hi everyone, I'm BAAACCK!!!

Here is basically the scoop.  I had been having abdominal pain for about 3-4 days it would come and go...and I would just grin and bear it.  On Friday I started getting nausea as well.  At this point I knew I had to at least see the Dr so I planned to go to urgent care - hopefully get some antibiotics and be on my way.  Well I called them when I left work early on Friday - they told me I had to go to ER.  Fever, Pain, and nausea they said needed to be addressed at ER.  So, I went to Banner Estrella.

I got there around 4 pm and they pretty quickly took me in and said I needed a CT Scan asap - So I had to go to Scottsdale and Shea to get a CT Scan. By 11 pm they found an intestinal blockage and they told me they were admitting me.

I was like WTF.  I did not come to ER on a Friday to get admitted.  It was my weekend!  Then they told me they were going to schedule a surgical consult because they believed that I would need to have an operation to resolve this issue immediately.  They gave me some vicoden and I don't even remember getting into my room (1432).

I woke up on Saturday in ALOT of pain.  Excruciatingly amount of pain.  Not even the morphine was helping.  And, I was on 4 units of it.  The surgeon came in and recommended sugery but he also recommended waiting a day in case the antibiotics and other meds would help the bowel slip back in place.  My sister wanted the procedure.  I did not - the surgeon really did not.  So, Jenn stayed the night with me my sister and Rob went home and I just waited it out over the night.  Every couple of hours getting more pain meds to deal with the waves of pain and discomfort.  Not wanting to move a muscle and  just trying to get through the day.

I was very upset that the hospital did not have net access.  They say they do, but they took it down.  So I was panicking more over my ability to not complete my classes despite the pain.  To say I was panicked does not do it justice.  I did not expect to be admitted.  I did not expect to lose two days.  I did not expect to need surgery.  So, I was not a the best frame of mind, even with the morphine.

Sunday was a MUCH better day.  I felt I had turned a corner.  The blockage was over.  The danger passed, the pain for the most part, passed....and I took myself off of morphine until late at night when I started having back pain.  See, they put this PICC line - it is a pulmonary catheter that goes from my arm to my heart where they can directly put antibiotics and pull blood for tests from (fun oh yeah).  It was about 50 inches inside of me and one of the side effects is clotting.  I was concerned that my back pain was clotting.  They assured me it wasn't.  And they gave me my last dose of morphine LOL.  I went to sleep.

Monday I woke up, and flat out wanted to go home.  By 9 am the Dr was willing to give me my clearance.  By noon I was on my way home.

I will go to work tomorrow and do a half day and see how I feel.  I am about to finish up my classwork and then its vicoden time.   That ladies and gentlemen was my weekend.

THE GOODS

Last night I went to see this flick.  I had high hopes because the previews were freaking funny.  And, that was what I was in the mood for.  I was NOT disappointed.  If you like Ari from Entourage and the character Jeremy Priven played in PCU - you will probably love this movie.  It was freaking funny!  From Ving Rhymes wanting to make love to a woman for the first time (as opposed to well..everything else) and then he finally does and was like WTF this is boring! LOL  Totally hilarious!  And for the climax - Will Ferrell was in the movie too.  So, yes if you are in the mood for a silly comedy.  This is the one to see.   Think of it as Jeremy Priven's PCU Character growed up....and now this is what he does for a living.

Party at my house!!!!

AT MY HOUSE!!!

Yep there was a party at my house last night (and now all of them are asleep) - except for the Gov because he had to leave at about 1 am....WORK SUCKS!

Poplicola showed up in Phoenix on his way to SFSU last night abount 11 pm.
The Gov - Potitus - showed up at my place at about 9:30!

Originally Tink was planning on Poplicola to show up about 5pm so we would end up doing dinner at the Claim Jumper....but that did not work out...so instead he showed up at 11 pm.

OH MY it was such a great time.
Tink played hostess...LOL cooking some Cornish Hens for Pop...
I imported Goldstar for JUST this occassion...Everyone and snack foods...sodas or booze depending on preference.

All 4 of us spent most of the night just talking...picking on Tink (always a fun topic) and talking about NR and the classics program he is going to start entering in SFSU.

I ended up crashing about 2:30 am (DAMN WORK!)  And when I woke up...Tink is asleep...Pop is asleep and hopefully he might be around when I get off of work again.

It was just so much fun!

PARTY AT SULLA's! LOL

Today she got notified that she got hired!

I also want to thank my sister for helping her get to the interviews (which I was unable to take her too - due to my job) and for her connections at the company!

YAY Jen!  Another step for a better life!  CONGRATS!

A surprise visitor

On Friday I had a surprise visitor.

Usually when I get home from work...and someone rings my doorbell...I generally ignore it because its usually a salesperson or a religious busybody.  I just let them ring the doorbell once or twice and they are on their way.

Friday, I get home from work and am just starting to relax and the doorbell goes off, only this time between ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door it really doesnt stop - which IS unusual.  So, after about the 4th doorbell ring I walk over to the door and look in the peep hole and think...WTF is that Holly?

Yes, I stopped seeing her about 4 months ago - zero contact.

So, I was surprised to say the least to see her here.  Knowing that she does not like driving out here in the first place.

I invite her in, she tells me of her new job - barely a block away from my place at a local school.  We talked for a bit, basically caught up. But something was amiss.   It just seemed odd.  She told me she had a bf or a guy she was seeing.  Yet then why come here?  Made no sense.  Anyway, it was Ok.  And even after seeing her I had no regrets making the decision I did about 4 months ago.

I WON!!! YEAH!!!!

My sister and I have been having this bet for a while now.

The Fed Ex from Israel to the US from the vacation LOL....how much got charged to the company account?

After my cell phone bill...I expected $1500!  Remember there were 4 big suitcases and 2 boxes.

Finally...I found out today...after almost a year of waiting....just what the damage was...but before we get to that what was the bet?

If the cost exceeded $650.00 - I would have to take my sister out to dinner.
Under $650.00 - my sister would have to cook petiscghe (sp).

The verdict is in $ 545.19!!!!!

I WIN!!!!

Busy busy busy

Yeah the subject seems more of the norm than usual.  To say I am just busy doesn't seem to do it justice anymore.

Take yesterday.  Work, then college classes, then going to my sisters - because she took Jen to an interview - hung out over there until about 9 pm - get home about 9:45 pm, check my classes again go to sleep around midnite and up at 5 am.

This has been my schedule for what...3 weeks now. (well not the going to my sister part) but the busyness of it all.  Unfortunately the blog suffers and that is one of the things I am trying to find a way to get more content in here.

On Tuesday, my nephew actually leaves for South Carolina and the army.  Yesterday I saw him for the last time before he leaves for bootcamp.  It's cool he is almost a different person then he was when he was a kid.  Just in the past few months he has matured and is much more social than I have ever noticed in him before.  I really hope this is a good thing and that he continues on this path.

Anyway, out for now...will have more updates later today.

Aliyah aliyah aliyah!

Well..How do I start this....

I overcame my first real hurdle on the aliyah info.  John confirmed that it was sent and that he was going to forward it to Jerusalem.  Today I am going to answer his email...

I heard the wrath of the family (just kidding Laurie).  I know she doesn't want me to go.  I know she wants what's best for me and while physically the best is here in the states - Physically is only part of what I am dealing with.  The other part, that I have a very difficult time expressing, is the spiritual and emotional part.  I just am not an open person and when it comes to expressing myself beyond "I am doing fine"  I don't do it.  It's hard to get across the absence of a piece of a puzzle - when that puzzle seemed full.  Yes, I know it sounds esoteric, convoluted and cryptic.

I know that physically I am better off here in the states (well at least Arizona [which lets face it AZ is not the state that I want to spend the rest of my life in])

Anyway, now I have to go and answer John's email!

John Hughes RIP

Director John Hughes dies at 59

'Breakfast Club' helmer died of a heart attack

John Hughes, who captured the zeitgeist of 1980s teen life as writer-director of "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles" and produced and scripted family hits such as "Home Alone," died Thursday of a heart attack in Manhattan while taking a walk. He was 59.

After an impressive string of hits -- "Home Alone" is one of the top-grossing live-action comedies of all time -- Hughes, who never won a major show business award, stopped directing in 1991 and virtually retired from filmmaking a few years later, working on his farm in northern Illinois.

Guily Pleasures

UGH one of them is You Don't mess with the Zohan.

When I was flying to Israel - this was one of the movies being shown on British Airways at that time.  I tried to watch it then - didn't like it at all.  Now, nearly a year later it's on Starz channel and everytime its on I end up watching it.

Probably a combination of reasons from remembering the trip and flight.  The final reason is because parts of it (not many) are funny.
