Yes Dan I noticed it too.         This is not in the spirit of artistic expression, which is what Youtube started out as. I think these videos enhanced , even promoted the songs in the clips. unless the original artist has some objection, think they should leave these vids as they were with music intact.

Posted by: Shawn at May 02, 2009 06:10 AM (jxBKS)

10 Yep I noticed too.  I am so glad we ripped them!   And at least Heep still has them too!

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 02, 2009 08:52 AM (Y5cO9)

11 Yup But it would suck to see it happen to Hey Clip though..

Posted by: Dan at May 02, 2009 10:28 AM (4Jbh8)

12 you mean the High Clip - because the hey clip still worked.

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 02, 2009 06:46 PM (Emjcw)

14 You have the HQ of it?  YES  I need them so I can sync it to my IPhone!!!

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 02, 2009 10:32 PM (Emjcw)

15 Nah..i meant Hey Clip. I was just saying that it would suck to see the same thing happen to the Hey Clip too..

Posted by: Dan at May 02, 2009 11:38 PM (4Jbh8)

16 Oh yeah that would SUCK.

The Hey clip was the first clip I watched on my IPhone

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 03, 2009 06:52 AM (Y5cO9)

17 yep a lot of videos has been muted
this is also happened to my vid of Tasha's Secret 2
but... what about "fair play"? I read about a law in the US about the possibility to use copyrighted music for personal vids but only if they respect the "fair play" policy. Youtube allows this. You can dispute a copyright claim and get the music back (it's an automated procedure, requires only two minutes and the audio it's restored immediately). But.. mmm I'm not pretty sure what happens if they think that a vid does not respect the fair play :/ I don't want to risk to get involved in a legal cause!!

Posted by: Luc at May 04, 2009 02:36 AM (4/+CQ)

18 Fair Use

The thing is if the record company complains - now youtube will pull the sound.  Youtube is corporate now.

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 04, 2009 06:50 AM (Y5cO9)

19 hmmm...so i should dispute it i guess?? some videos were removed all together, other just the audio?... it's so fucking confusing... I worked hard on those clips and music..

Posted by: chris ny at May 04, 2009 05:54 PM (r9IHM)

20 Which videos were removed?  Dont say the Beach boys one....please dont say that one....its bad enough blackbetty disappeared!

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 04, 2009 06:21 PM (Y5cO9)

21 haha sorry, you're right, it's "fair use" LOL
yep, some videos are no longer on tasha's channel, the "tainted love clip" has been removed

Posted by: Luc at May 05, 2009 02:06 AM (4/+CQ)

22 NO SHIT...Tainted love is removed?  DAMN it.

When I call her I will have to let her know.  That sucks....that was a great clip.  One of their best.

Is white rabbit still there?

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 05, 2009 07:31 AM (V+ylD)

23 Im guessing she already knows. She set about 20 vids to private..noticed it last night. But the Behind the scenes - Hey Clip vid was taken down due to copyright. sad..

Posted by: Dan at May 05, 2009 09:56 AM (4Jbh8)

24 SHIT.

That sucks totally sucks.

Well Youtube has totally jumped the shark as to its original vision.  It is totally corporate -  Thank you GOOGLE.

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 05, 2009 12:06 PM (V+ylD)

25 WTF?? what copyright have violated the "behind the scenes" vid????
DAMN also the white rabbit clip has been deleted
Probably youtube doesn't really knows what is a "fan made" clip. They are taking down a lot of vids on many channels without any serious reason. This is also happened to my tribute vids of the x-files and buffy. Deleted due to copyright-shit-violations. WTF?! Copyright violation for a fan-tribute-clip?!?!?!?
Well.. youtube has lost it's original feeling.

Posted by: Luc at May 06, 2009 12:51 AM (4/+CQ)

26 Damn..and i thought White Rabbit was just set to private But no..

Posted by: Dan at May 06, 2009 10:02 AM (4Jbh8)

27 I only have the beach boys tribute left, everything else has been Muted or removed. They should really think before doing this because if we don't put up videos then there is NO Youtube left to worry about.Watching ppl just talk about themselves is usally boring, thats what they want i guess.

Posted by: chris ny at May 06, 2009 10:21 AM (2zXwP)

28 Chris youtube has already jumped the shark.  It is overly corporate.  This is why they are removing and editing clips.  Just sad.

At least there is still Heep and Liveleak.

Damn.

And Lital confirmed she has taken down some clips from youtube.  Double Damn.

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 06, 2009 10:40 AM (V+ylD)

29 "Do you love me (now that i can dance)" and "Northern Sky"..seem to be the only two vids (as of right now) that are safe from that copyright stuff..

btw. Liveleak..? T has a account there or something..?

Posted by: Dan at May 06, 2009 03:45 PM (4Jbh8)

30 No, not that I am aware of Dan - however, some of her clips ARE there, nevertheless.   And of course Heep still owns them all.  So, we have that as well.

Posted by: Robert Woolwine at May 06, 2009 09:43 PM (Y5cO9)

31 I have an account on liveleak but it's not like youtube. Their main "mission" is to publish news video, not personal one. Also the audience is completely different from youtube.
I've also tried metacafe.. with poor views results. Metacafe is used mainly for 18+ videos for personal vids they index youtube results.
Tried some other services but everyone has problem converting vids (I got audio desync )
youtube is dying day after day.. it's a shame.. it has been a great service since google bought them............

Posted by: Luc at May 07, 2009 03:36 AM (4/+CQ)

32 I understand that it is not the same as youtube in terms of emphasis.  But, they do work.

Soon we will have to do a wake for Youtube.  Too bad.
