My Life part 1,359

This is one of those posts I have been working on.

In 1992, I was 20 years old and while I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up (a lawyer) I was not sure how to go about achieving that objective.

Even now I have a Paralegals degree, my Bachelors Degree is in Political Science, my graduate degrees are in Business Administration and Education.  I still never managed to go to law school.

Anyway, when I was 20, I was attending Riverside Community College and my best friend, Angel and I were taking some of the same classes because he wanted to be either a cop or a fireman.  He was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Rubidioux part time. But he was still undecided.  So, as an elective we both enrolled in a class called Police Community Relations.  I figured it would be an interesting class with some political ramifications.  The class was taught by a currently employed Sherrif from the County of Los Angeles.  It was a very interesting class.  We learned some of the more interesting stories that he had experienced like the time when he was called for assistance in an animal cruelty situation and when he walked in he found this mentally ill woman giving a blow job to a Great Dane!

As the class was nearing completion our class was winding down and getting ready for Finals but then something happened which totally altered our class.  That was the Rodney King Beating. I cannot recall if he knew the officier's accused in the beating but I do remember us talking about it in the class because there was no way one could avoid NOT talking about it.  It was just that prevalent.  Basically the final three weeks of the class were totally improvised as the syllabus was thrown out and we were discussing the ramifications of the beating and now it would affect the relations between the Police and local community.  None of us really expected a riot to erupt.  But it did.  That part will be in another post.

Tasha and Dishka Update

Yesterday was a truly excellent!  An outstanding day!

Yesterday Dishka stopped in the chatroom!!! For her second time - unfortunately I was in the middle of collecting money and running to the bank so I missed her!   Damn work!  First I missed Dino and now Dishka!

Then we got a blog post from Dishka on her myspace page!  It was really nice to hear from her and she told us she is going to Ireland - the land of rolling green hills, golf and Guinness!

Then we heard from Tasha!  I had a couple of messages from her and then she posted a blog post! What a wonderfully uncommon day to hear from both girls.

Also, in case you didn't notice - The Hey Clip is almost at 16 million views!   What an outstanding achievement!

This day in history

Is the 62nd anniversary of the Atomic Weapon bombing of Hiroshima.  This was the first of two bombings that facilitated the end of WWII.  I wish I had the time to go into greater detail.  At best I can just give a moment of silence in rememberance of the greatest generation and those victims.

Just wow - My Saturday

I guess I seriously needed to rest today.  Last night, after the gym I chatted a bit with Chris and Shawn.  I think I ended up falling asleep around midnite.  Not out of the normal actually.  But I woke up at 6:30 on a Saturday - that sucked (Thank Curio for waking me up LOL) After I fed the cats and checked my email I went back to sleep....next thing I know its almost 11 am!  Color me surprised!  Then I went out did some errands, cleaned up the house a bit, and then by about 3 pm was just tired again.  I was watching some TV and ended up taking a nap on my couch and woke up about 6 pm!  Now I feel wide awake - at least I will be able to get alot of my homework done....but wow!  Totally unexpected!

Blog posts updates

Last week I did a couple of posts regarding the Blog Swarm over the new republic's accusation of criminal mischief and abuse by our troops in Iraq.  Today the army investigation is complete.  The accusations are false. Once again the MSM has tried to libel our troops - create an air of mistrust and flat out lie.  Once again they were pointed out to be the liars that they are!

Also, last week there was the helicopter crash in Phoenix.  The FAA released the preliminary report.  Channel 15's helicopter was the one that flew into Channel 3s space and caused the unfortunate accident that ended up killing all hands.  Within the next two weeks we should have access to a more detailed report that will explain how the entire accident occurred.  I did learn something new - there were a total of 5 choppers at the scene covering the chase.  Now - is that really needed?  I personally think it's overkill.  And unfortunately it does seem like the Police are going to charge the accused with these 4 deaths - with wrongful death charges.  That to me is like a victim in a gun shooting suing Smith and Wesson for his injury.  They didn't do it - the guy who shot him did!

Posts I am working on

Well I have a couple of more posts about me.

My experiences during the LA Riots around 1992

Remembering Key events like the OJ Simpson chase and more importantly the verdict (which we watched during my Geometry class in college) LOL

And I think I should post some cat pics.  I want to get my cats in the Carnival of the Cats that Lair runs (www.isfullofcrap.com) - now that I am running a blog I can have my bums included!   I think Curio would like that LOL.
