The problem with Sociologists. . . .

Is that they are Sociologists.  I, in all my years, cannot think of one productive thing they have done.  To justify part of my view we have the New York Times discussing a convention in San Fransciso (big shocker there) called, "Is there anything good about men, and other tricky questions?"  Ace comes up with a slam dunk comment right off the bat,

At Least Your Ancestors Were Probably Alpha Males: 80% of All Women Reproduced, But Only 40% of All Men

Which probably means that a sizable fraction of your male ancestors were rapists, though this article doesn't exactly say that.

There are so many issues with this "study" that I honestly do not know where to begin.   Let's take this quote:

“I’m certainly not denying that culture has exploited women,” he said. “But rather than seeing culture as patriarchy, which is to say a conspiracy by men to exploit women, I think it’s more accurate to understand culture (e.g., a country, a religion) as an abstract system that competes against rival systems — and that uses both men and women, often in different ways, to advance its cause.”

What Dr. Baumeister is saying is that society, every society competes and exploits its members, particularly women.  Yet, they do not justify or try to prove their point.  They are trying to relate it solely to our society and even there it fails.  In Ancient Rome, women could not vote, but they were very powerful nevertheless.   I can name many women in ancient history who yielded more power than many of their contemporaries.  Hortensia who stood up to Trumivers (Octvian aka Augustus and Marcus Antonius) over being taxes.  Queen Boudicca who rebelled against Rome and almost kicked the Romans out of Britannia.  Fulvia, wife of Publius Clodius and M. Antonius who led a rebellion against Octavian.  And, if I went searching into Jewish History I know I could probably find other examples and in the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine) there were Empresses who blinded their own son's so they keep unlimited power.  While they may not have been the norm, one cannot deny that woman have wielded as much power as men.
