My Memorial Day

It has been a NICE day.  The weather is wonderful!  About 75 degrees...and my teaching is done for now...staying in today...though I would really like to go out...hehe...I think its better for me to stay in...and just rest...not very often I am off of both jobs!!

So, I have been cleaning...playing with the cats...Curio is just having way too much fun...but now he is asleep LOL.  Now doing the laundry and just being a lazy bum....sometimes it's needed.

I got to talk to Lital today and catch up...That was outstanding!  It was way too long hehe.....And, it was a great conversation.  I filled her in on the updated plans and such and what has been going on over her.  Fun times and crazy times!

Now I am trying to jump ahead on some of the teaching stuff...better to be ahead than behind...and listening to KNRJ streaming!

Last Clips of the night

Soul II Soul - Back to Life

Soul II Soul - Keep on Movin'

Soul II Soul - Jazzie's Groove

Man this baseline - totally takes me back...when I was growing up in Riverside, on Sunday's UCR (University of California in Riverside) would use this theme song on their Soul on Sunday (SOS) college radio station!  Totally loved working at the time listening to the college radio station..that's where Digital Underground, TuPac and many others started their popularity in the college radio circuit.  hehe..I used to even record the music on casettes..where I first got really exposed to Parliament Funkadellic LOL and others.

Homework is DONE!!! and other things on my mind.

With 15 min to spare!  WHOOOOO!!!! Yay..

one class officially OVER!!! YAY!!!  2 classes set up (that was from last week though).

If everything goes right, I will have two more classes in two more weeks!  YAY!!!!

That will just about cut my credit card debts in half! WHOOO!!!! and I will be ahead of time to remove all my credit card debt other than the hotels in Israel... How awesome is that!  Things are looking so bright right now... I have had a number of really good things happen this week!   And tomorrow I am off of work for Memorial Day...time to rest up...time to relax...get over this damn cold that is still lingering!  My trainer is out of town - he is in Vegas working on narrowing down the potential Olympic team for the US in Greco-Roman Wrestling - so while I get a break from that...torture LOL I will be going to the other gym this week instead.

Back to school I have the following lined up so far:

2 classes on 6/9
2 classes on 6/30
2 classes on 7/14

That is as it stands right now.  Here is the kicker.  The classes on 7/14 - will run through the vacation.  Actually it will end while I am on vacation, so I will probably end up losing a day grading papers for that class LOL...but hey the upside is that baring anything unforeseen that class...will pay the hotel costs for the trip.    It's all good!  Any more classes between now and then will begin to pay for the car rental and food and souvenirs instead of having to put them on my credit cards.

Everything is coming along swimmingly.

Another observation...it's quite a contrast the good things that seem to be happening to me in my life.....right now at this moment...and how some people seem to be having a great deal of difficulty. The previous blog post is what I am referring too.  I wonder if there is something telling about it or if I am reading into it.  Eh, I don't know.

From Ace - Most Expensive burger

Yo Chris!  You are in NY!  Have you ever tried this? LOL

$175. Would you try it?

The burger, created by chef and co-owner Kevin O'Connell, seeks to justify its price with a Kobe beef patty, lots of black truffles, seared foie gras, aged Gruyere cheese, wild mushrooms and flecks of gold leaf on a brioche bun.

The eatery sells 20 or 25 per month in the fine dining room upstairs versus hundreds of $4 burgers each day at the diner counter downstairs, Tierney said.

To me well, it sounds kinda disgusting - at least til you get to the foie gras and the gold leaf! LOL  Is it worth $175?  At least you would be shitting gold! LOL

Tomorrow is Memorial Day

First, thank you to all of the veterans!  You protect all of our freedoms and there is simply no way to thank you enough for your selfless sacrifice.  You truly give us the blessings of freedom without the sacrifice!  You are the true heros!  Thank you for your sacrifice!

All through the blogosphere you will hear stories about veterans, living and dead.  This is a time of reflection and thanks.  I read a blog post about one who thanked some veterans and they were actually surprised they were being thanked.  That is touching and sad at the same time. (if I could find the damn link I would post it here).  Tomorrow, take some time to thank a veteran! Buy them a cup of coffee or a meal.

Here are some poignant links:

Ace of Spades - again - a must read.

Something on my mind.

Here is a hypothetical question. Tell me what you think.

Someone has been sexually assaulted.  The next day they go to the police station and an advocacy center.  You find out that that person has taken their kids to the police station and advocacy center.  Keep in mind the kids are not teenagers (they are younger) Would you, if you were in that situation, take your kids there and expose them to that?

In my mind, I am thinking HELL NO!  That is just far far too much reality for kids.  What do you think?

Grad Party!

Yesterday was my niece's grad party!!!

It was great!  There were so many people there...Well, I am not used to a large amount of people   But it was fun!  It was supposed to be a pool party but we are not having normal weather in Arizona - it rained Thursday and Friday.  Saturday was almost cold!

My boss and I got Nikki a Digital camera that she loved!   And Nikki totally thought we were going to get her something girlie! LOL  That was just too funny!  Her reaction was priceless!

After about 7:30 I left, I was there for over 7 hours...and I got to torture my sister by watching the history channel part of the time with my brother in law's step-father! LOL  That was pretty cool! LOL  And, I also go to see Pat, she is like my sister's second mom.  I have not seen her since mom's funeral.  It was great to see her again and catch up on things!  It was a great time, not very stressful and everything seemed to go off without a hitch!  YAY Nikki!

Classic Videos

One of the things I really enjoy about holiday weekends are that the radio stations tend to have theme weekends.

KNRJ - Dance music station - is focusing on classic Dance and club music from the 80's and 90's!

98.3 The beat - Rap station - is focusing on Old School Rap - from late 1970s - about 1995.

It is just perfect and I almost wish I could split myself up into two people to listen to both stations at the same time!  But on the whole I am focusing on the Dance!

Here are some of the songs I am listening too:

Smiths - How soon is now

Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party

Stevie B - In my eyes

This is just the past couple of songs.  I am grading papers now, so this will be a VIDEO day! WHOOOOOOO!!!

Indiana Jones

I saw it last night.  It was pretty good!  A pretty good action flick.  Of course what made it was simply that it was Indiana Jones!  Yes part of it was just TOO CGI....but on the whole it is a good action flick.

I really liked the tie in-s with the previous movies!!! Well done!

What I did not enjoy was the changes to Indy's character.  His wry sense of humor - absent.  In this flick he is a know-it-all.  Look at the previous movies, that was NEVER the case.  There are a few more things, but those are the biggest issues I had...that an the Lucas - CGI overboard effects.

Rating - 7 out of 10.  Better than Temple of Doom not in the same league as the Last Crusade.

This weekend!

Let's see...I have to attend my niece's graduation party.    IT was supposed to be a pool party, but the weather wont cooperate.  On monday it was over 105 degrees - yesterday it was about 75!  and Raining!!!  YAY!!!!  And today it's even colder!  So, no swimming weather.  But, I am sure it will be a good party! Lots of people!

Then I must see the new Indiana Jones flick!  WHOOO!!!!

After that....eh who knows.  There still seems to be some drama around...but nothing too major.  I was also hoping to call Lital again.  It has been FAR too long.

Congrats Nikki!!!!!!

Today she graduated High School!  I am so very happy for her.  I know I should have been at her ceremony, but I am not entirely recovered from this damn bout of bronchitis.  After working out I just went home and crashed for a couple of hours.  Now, I am up working on some school work and just thinking about life in general.  That aside I am so very proud of her.  She made it!!! I was nervous at times wondering if she would be able to pull it off...but she did and I am so proud of her.

So now she can have a bit of a break before the big challenges come - which of course is COLLEGE!  Now Nikki, I will give you the same advice I gave to Lital and Adi - NO CLASSES BEFORE 10 am!   Seriously...who wants to take a freaking college class at 7 am!  I did, and it fucking sucked!

YAY NIKKI!!!!

How to Hookah - YOUTUBE!

Thank you very much Steve!

Here they are...the one..the only...........Tasha and Dishka!!!

Seeing this video....I totally laugh at Dishka's facial expressions....I seriously cannot think of anyone who has such an expressive form as her.  The camera really loves both of them!

Too bad that Heep doesn't translate the clips.  I would SERIOUSLY pay for that just to understand everything that is being said.  Some of it I can get from the expressions, but not all.  Especially on the baby clip....Just way to hilarious!

Major Vacation Update!!!!!!

As of tomorrow Chris and I will have made our reservations for the following:

Tel Aviv - Sept 9-10 - Hotel Adiv
Sept 11 - is going to be a float day.
Sept 12- 14 - We will be in Jerusalem staying at the Jerusalem Inn
The 15th - probably head back to Tel Aviv - Chris leaves either on the 15th or 16th.  (I might go back to Tel Aviv with him or I might stay in Jerusalem - the issue that seems to come up in my mind is the car rental issue.)
I will be in Tel Aviv probably until the 17th.
On the 18th I will probably be in Haifa and then head back to Tel Aviv (depends on how long I stay in Jerusalem).

Now we just need to nail down the tour reservations!

Economic Stimulus

YAY...got my Economic stimulus check.  Now I can use it to stimulate Israel's economy!  Funny how that works!

It sure as hell took them long enough to get it here.  But, we are talking about the government here!  I think I am going to either just pay off Credit cards or just flat out convert the funds to New Shekels - I think with the weakening dollar it might be worth it to go this route.
