Tasha's Videos Conversation

Chris and I have been sort of having this conversation for a while...we both have been noticing trends in the clips being put out by the girls and by Lital (on her own).

This conversation was really sparked by Luc's most recent tribute.  When viewing that tribute, all of the older clips and photos in comparison with the newer clips the evolution is clearly not the same anymore.  There is a world of difference between the Tasha clips of a year ago (and older) compared to the Tasha clips of today.  In a way it is sad, very sad.  In a way it is a sign of growth.  Is it good?  Is it bad?  Who knows, but the observations we made are:

For example, the last clip that the girls really appeared in was about 8 months ago.  Since then the clips that, for the most part, they have done together were shot separately.  A clear example of this is the New Years clip.  Lital recorded hers separately from Dishka's.  This has been pretty much SOP (standard operating procedure).

Another trend we have observed is that the clips just are not the same as they used to be.  I don't know if its because that they are just so busy...but the result is rather striking.

Take for example the last few clips Lital posted Love is strange, tainted love,  and lip sync is dead.  In those clips they were all having fun, smiling, dancing around and just being the spontaneous girls that we became addicted too.  The clips were in a word infectious.

The recent clips, since they started college, have a completely different feel.   Between the girls not being in the clips much together, the somber subject matter of some of the clips, or the clips are just one of dinner parties.  In other words nothing too creative, especially when compared to the other clips.

Also, I was sort of hoping that Adi would have put up some clips on her own, but that has not even happened yet.  Hopefully in time that will happen.

As we know, things change and I guess this is just a symptom of that.  We all know that both of the girls are extremely talented.  Their clips are generally the most creative and fun clips around.  The one thing I hope is that by going to school, I hope it wont alter their creativity and their improvisational process.  It was that spark of improvisation that gave us Love is Strange and Stills from Life, which I think are some of the best of the recent clips Lital has done.

3 no, it's not the bug slayer clip, but the "going through the motions" with the soundtrack of the Buffy episode "once more with feelings".
a great clip that is no more present on youtube
btw regarding the 'new' clips, there is something of different, the feeling is changed, just take a look at the vid "stills from life".. there are a lot of emotions.. this is the reason that I love Lital's clip, they are "real", they always transmit something to the viewer

4 Oh I remember that clip now!  That was the funny one.

Well the long shot clip isn't gone.  According to youtube it has just been set on private.

The emotionalism of some clips can be readily explained, Stills in Life is a good example, given what she was going through in her life at the time.
