My name - expansion from previous post.

Originally, when my parents planned for my birth my name was supposed to be David Clayton Woolwine.  That was what was planned and the entire family knew about it.  Well, obviously it did not happen that way it was planned.   Here is why.

My grandfather suffered a stroke while driving home from work.  How he managed to get off the road safely I have no idea.  He suffered the stroke on May 5th 1972.  My grandmother's birthday is May 6th and at that time my grandfather was having brain surgery and passed away.   On May 7th, that was my uncle's Birthday (his son's birthday.  On May 8th I was born.  While I was being born my mom was giving birth to me. She could not attend the funeral of her father.

When my mom and I were released from the hospital, my aunt Mary kept calling me Robby and Robby Dobbie  and other baby names.  It just sort of stuck.  My mom and grandmother told me it was an honor to be named after him and that he was always watching out for me.

I wish I had gotten to met him.  That was the one thing in my life I wish I was able to do.  But, sometimes I do sense his presence, though I couldn't describe it, it's just something I feel.

So, that is how I became Robert Clayton Woolwine.  (And even then there was a time when I was about to change my name and drop Woolwine - but that's for another post.).
