New Ken Burns Documentary

If you are wondering why I posted the previous post - a clip from Ken Burns the Civil War - this will explain it.  His new documentary is out as of 9/23!  This one is his take on WWII.  IF anyone can improve on a documentary about a subject that has been talked about over and over...it is going to be Ken Burns.  He is a genius pure and simple!  There are not many people that I would give the title of Genius...but Ken Burns is one.  I love history not because of the dates or the facts but because of the events and people.  I joke around saying history is about violence, wars, drama, sex, intrigue, sex and did I mention sex.  But all of that is due to the people, those who made it in the history books and those who are at most a footnote in the pages of history.  Just watch this clip and the previous one and tell me your not moved!

"The War"

Whether you love PBS or hate it, you can't deny that without that network we would probably never have been introduced to the work of Ken Burns. His documentary work has been imitated, and memorably mocked. This Sunday, his newest documentary - "The War" - begins on PBS.

"The War" tells the story of World War II through the eyes of the men who fought it. Looks like this documentary is going to be on par with "The Civil War," which has one of the most tear-inducing moments of television I've ever seen. (Segment starts at 2:28 - those that have seen it know exactly what I mean.)

How Could I Forget? - Now that I think about it, maybe Ken Burns was imitating IB.
