For the rest of us - no such luck.
What is the purpose of this holiday...well to think of Presidents and it - I think is supposed to be a combination of Washington's Bday and Lincoln's Bday. Eh, its not like its Veterans day where we should thank those who protect our freedoms. Nope, here we think about JFK boning Marilyn Monroe, or Cleins putting his cigar in Lewinsky, Nixon with Watergate, or Iran Contra during Reagan's presidency. As you can tell this holiday just does not rate with me. Sure there are great things Presidents do but come on, look at who is running now. Where is our Lincoln or Washington or even FDR now? Nope instead we are stuck with Barrack Hussein Obama and John McCain. G-d help us.

The term 'Haveil Havalim,' which means "Vanity of Vanities," is from Qoheleth, (Ecclesiastes) which was written by King Solomon. King Solomon built the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and later on got all bogged down in materialism and other 'excesses' and realized that it was nothing but 'hevel,' or in English, 'vanity.'Are we all bogged down in excess blogging? Probably.... And with that, I will go pretend to do something else besides blogging for a little bit.

Anyway, Chris emailed me to say he just got his passport in the mail. So he is now on target. He just needs to get his tickets. And my boss said that he should be able to use British Airways as well. So, there is a chance (I have no idea the odds at this point) that we could met up in London and take the same flight into Tel Aviv.
Beyond that - I just went and bought some additional camera equipment and I am trying to find the docking for the camcorder - not that I think I do need it, but one never knows.
And, I think I came to the conclusion that I am going to kennel the cats while I am gone. Yeah, thats the one thing I am going to hate - in being gone, but they will be taken care of by professionals. Cornelius is going to fight like hell getting into his cat carrier (he is about an 18 lb cat) and while he has no front claws he does have some serious back claws. Curio is easy, he can be totally manhandled by me. Poor sucker! LOL
Anyway, my boss has already started giving me excellent tips and I called British Airways and found out that I will not need to go through customs during the layover in England. - one less headache! After I make the hotel reservation - I will start converting funds from US Dollars to Shekels. - another tip from my boss. So now, its just down to picking the hotel in Tel Aviv - at times I think I have just so much data that it actually hinders decision making, but I know I still have time so I am not too worried about it.
Everything is right on target.

But the one that is probably the best IMHO (since I am a poli sci major) goes to this comment - because it is so true! It was on this thread about engineers deemphasizing math and focusing more on ethics! LOL
6 When it came time to pick a major in college I went with Political Science. Why? Because I sucked at math and still do. In Poli-Sci you don't have to be right, just convincing. Engineering? I think getting those numbers to add up might be a wee bit more important.than 'context'.
Idiots.

And, I found out that if I wanted to stay in London for a few days - its not a big deal. I just need to pay the change fee of $200.00 bucks and the cost difference for the ticket! Very very cool!
So, I am starting to look into that.

Since I had just received my two new teaching contracts I decided to splurge now. And at the end of this month I will have the hotel in Tel Aviv reserved. I have narrowed the selection down to 3 hotels.

From Ace:
Hillary: Done
Damn it all. Unless Hillary can win by margins of 25-30 points -- which she can't, of course; she's lucky to squeak if she wins at all -- she can no longer amass enough delegates to catch Obama, because the Democratic proportional-allotment system will give her only paltry gains where (if) she wins.
This is the true stake in the heart for me. Every candidate I supported loss. But losing Hillary -- once, Hilllary! -- is almost too much to bear.
Thanks to tmi3rd.

Dildos at the Supreme Court
Via Eugene Volokh, it looks like the Supreme Court will be considering laws which prohibit the sale of sex-toys.
The Texas ban on dildoes -- yes, it expressly mentions "dildo" -- has just been struck down by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The law, the court held, violates Lawrence v. Texas right of "adult consensual sexual intimacy in the home."On this, the Fifth Circuit disagrees with the Eleventh Circuit, which upheld a similar Alabama law last year.
I love this country.

10 Oh and if they ban dildos, they're also gonna have to ban jelly jars and fists. 'cuz some people just can't tell the difference. (by Joanie)
